About the event

Whether you’ve inherited boxes of letters, photos, and artifacts, or only a few stories passed down to you, this multi-genre workshop provides tools for shaping the raw material of family history into engaging and artful texts. Drawing on her experience publishing poems, essays, and memoirs rooted in family and ancestral history, Rebecca introduces basic principles and techniques and leads discussions of model poems by Hart Crane, Natasha Trethewey, and Marilyn Nelson and memoir excerpts by John Edgar Wideman and Judith Kitchen, among other literary works.
